4 ways to beat the post holiday blues

Have you ever found your wonderful self in a bit of a post holiday slump?

Don’t stress (seriously, you are not alone) and keep reading!

1. Organise your days

I am by no means the most organised person on the planet (“organised chaos” is more my style), but having a rough structure in everyday life does help. Try going to bed at a reasonable time (I am all for early night-ins) and wake yourself up in the morning with a hot shower and a yummy breakfast. Three meals a day with regular balanced snacks in between is always a good idea.

2. Setting (realistic) goals

With 2018 around the corner, why not come up with some New Year resolutions? Or simply write down a list of things to do for the day (try bullet journaling!). Set yourself attainable/achievable goals though; it is one thing to challenge yourself, but over-stretching might add unnecessary stress to your life.

3. Be nice to yourself

Always be kind to yourself – take good care of yourself and show yourself a hell lot of respect. Acknowledge and appreciate your feelings; and be more mindful to your (and your body’s) needs. Make yourself a cuppa when you need it, put on a nice outfit in the morning and take a hot bath after a long day. Why not treat yourself something nice? You thoroughly deserve it 🎁

4. Breathe and relax

It is healthy to soothe those nerves and remind yourself it is quite alright to take a break! Colouring helps, so does drawing and crocheting; or go for a walk and breathe in some the fresh air. Write down your thoughts in a journal or confide in a close friend. Take deep breaths throughout the day and squeeze in 5 or 10 minutes for some quick mindfulness or relaxing yoga, let your brain relax a wee bit. 

Remember, our lives are not perfect but that’s okay too! Sometimes we need to be reminded that we human beings make mistakes, and while we can sit in the corner and sulk forever more, we can also choose to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try again 💕
